My go-to pants pattern

This is my second review for this pattern since I’d only made one pair when I wrote the first.

Yesterday, as I cut out my seventh pair of Hepburn trousers, I thought about why I love this pattern so much. The details are all so good—the shaped waistband, back welt pockets, pocket facings (so with heavy fabric you can use lighter weight for the pocket bags and avoid bulk), and the fly extension all combine for a very professional finish. The fit and styling find the perfect balance of classic yet modern and work in a broad range of fabrics. I’ve made them with heavy canvas, midweight denim, lightweight denim, fine wool, drapey midweight linen, and cotton twill. Each pair has its own unique character depending on the fabric. I wear US 4 or 6 in RTW (waist 30” hips 37”) and have been making the size 10. They are slightly oversized on me which is the fit I was after. I’m contemplating trying a pair in size 8 for a more tailored feel. Overall Hepburn is a well designed and drafted pattern with clear instructions for intermediate and above.

I finished my Hepburn pants today. They’re loaded with quality details, and came together beautifully. I’m absolutely thrilled with the fit! Already planning my next pair.

They look good!

I purchased this pattern to be part of my fall wardrobe and decided to make it using a really gorgeous corduroy I ordered from Former Latter Fabrics.
I seleced the straight leg view.
I really like the deep front pockets and the welt pockets in the back. I have made welt pockets before, but they are still tricky and difficult with corduroy.
The issue I had with this pattern is that the waistband was too small for the pants. But, it turned out OK because although I chose the size based on my waist and hip, they came out too big. So, I sized the pants down to match the waistband and now they look great. Lol.
I am convinced the size issue I had with the pattern was mine.

I will certainly make these again.
