Made a wearable toile from a piece of black denim I had in my stash - I love to practice the whole thing and this was a new way to do the zip fly on jeans for me, and I loved it - it’s my best zip yet. Once finished, I kind of wished they were a bit higher waisted but I’m unsure of how and/or where to adjust my pattern pieces to achieve this - the fly front is scaring me a bit with regards pattern alteration, but I’m sure I’ll find some advice soon.
Aside from that I’m super happy with how they came together and the fact that they fit so well first time round with no adjustments. These are now my eighth pair of jeans using four different patterns and styles and only the second pair to fit so well first time which makes it one of my top patterns now - will be even better if I can just figure out how to make them higher waisted.
Have never made any clothes from a pattern before, so this was my first go. I have finished the jeans and they fit perfectly. I had to merge 3 sizes together! I found the instructions easy to follow. They are not a perfect finish, but that is down to me and my contrasting top stitching, etc. BUT they fit great and the pattern was easy to follow.
I am so happy I have achieved this and know that I can now go on and make some more clothes, I just need to improve on my actual sewing skills. Making your own clothes is NOT cheaper than buying, but the thrill of wearing something you made that actually fits properly is so worth it.
Will use these over and over . For me, they required only one tiny adjustment while all my other patterns required massive fixes.
This was my first structured pant pattern and my first time working with denim. I really appreciated the timestamped YouTube video of the Men’s version. I didn’t have to make a ton of adjustments but if quads and calves are your hot button this style is easy to make adjustments to. I used a midweight denim with 20% stretch and good recovery. It adds a wonderful amount of comfort without too much stretch. I’m extremely pleased with the result.
This jeans pattern was not difficult to sew. Especially the front pocket design. The outstanding feature of this pattern was how the front fly zipper was installed. I've never seen that method before and it was easy, fast and error proof. The video was very helpful as well.
