Komi Wrap jacket
Here I am, trying to decide which one of my six (yes SIX) Komi Kimono jackets to wear today? The Komi Kimono Jacket is actually the first jacket pattern I designed for Wardrobe By Me in the fall of 2015. Although it has ALWAY been on my top ten list of most favorite garments I have ever created, the pattern has lived a quiet life, halfway hidden among all the other stars in the WBM collection.
I'm not surprised. With very few good photos and the limited (old) size range, this pattern didn't stand a chance. I just knew it was not getting the deserved attention. It has been my go-to jacket/cardigan pattern for three years now, and I think many others will feel the same way about this classic, comfortable, stylish sewing pattern.
Here are three versions all in heavy designer knit. The two on the left have the new shawl collar, the one on the right is with the classic kimono band.
With 27 testers of all sizes helping me relaunch this fantastic jacket, we decided to add a shawl collar option in addition to a classic kimono band collar. We have also given two front piece options; A darted front for woven fabric and a straight front piece for jersey/knitted fabric. The two front pieces are a fantastic way to give you the choice of using either woven or knitted material. Finally, You can make a sleeveless vest, which is a perfect layering piece for the chilly autumn days ahead.
Aside from the classic dropped shoulder, big sleeve silhouette, the jacket has the most scrumptious deep pockets. The jacket can be worn with or without the belt and looks fantastic in a heavy woven fabric, thick designer knit or flimsy silky materials.
Here are three versions all in heavy woven fabric. The first one is a classic coat wool , the middle one an upholstery jacquard , and the right one again a heavy cotton. The jacket becomes very structured in this type of fabric.
The Komi Kimono jacket PDF sewing pattern is developed for size 0-24/30-54.
Hi,
Do you have an extension package incorporating the shawl collar for those of us who bought the pattern before the changes?
