Dagbjörts DIY Wardrobe - Wardrobe By Me

Dagbjörts DIY Wardrobe

I came across Dagbjörts blog last winter, and as I'm from Denmark and she is from Iceland living in Norway I had a feeling that working together would be fun. I decided to ask her if she would like to be a tester. Since then, Dagbjört has been part of my dedicated tester team. I love her minimalistic style and cool colour palette. Here is a peek into her DIY wardrobe:

I have only been sewing for myself for about a year now and that was never even my intention when I dug my sewing machine out from the attic four years ago.  My big plan was to sew something simple like circle skirts for my daughter. I had no idea that this great online sewing community existed let alone all these talented indie pattern designers.  It is totally awesome!

By now, a good chunk of my wardrobe is made by me and those garments are actually the pieces I mostly wear on a daily basis.  My style is very casual, I wear scrubs at work most of the time so I only wear my clothes when going to and from work and when running errands on my day off.  At home I always change into leggings or joggers and a t-shirt or a sweater depending on the temperature.  I live on the western coast of Norway and it rains a lot here, so I usually cover up in rain gear when going to and from work so actually I could just wear my leggings all the time.  But than it wouldn't be as nice to come home and change into something nice and comfy. When going through my closet to take photos of my me-mades that I wear all the time, I realized that only four pieces are not from Wardrobe My Me patterns.

Wardrobe Builder Tee Side ruching and boatneck               Wardrobe Builder Tee Striped, crew neck

I think my most worn items are my Wardrobe Builder Tees.

Sneha in thick fleece  Day tripper PDF sewing pattern from Shwin Designs  Day tripper PDF sewing pattern from Shwin Designs

For colder days I use my Sneha Tunic top a lot or my two Day tripper sweaters from Shwin Designs.

Daisy Dropped shoulder Tee PDF sewing pattern               Diamond Top Shwin Design

When short sleeves are in order I wear my sleeveless Daisy Dropped Shoulder Tee (WBM) or the Diamond top from Shwin Designs.

Daisy Dropped Shoulder with long sleeves and V-neckline               Savannah Shirt with Rib collar

Sometimes it's good to wear long sleeves in a thinner fabric. That's when I love to wear my floral long sleeved Daisy Dropped Shoulder Tee or my Savannah Shirt.

When I only need something light for extra layer my favorites are the Amelia Bomber Jacket and the Susanne Cardigan from Compagnie M.As you can see my go-to outfit is a pair of jeans and a nice sweater or top.

Sneha Tunic Asymmetric hem PDF sewing pattern from Wardrobe By Me

But I also love my Sneha Tunic with the symmetric dropped hem, dressed up or down depending on what I'm doing that day

I have two new pieces that I haven't had time to blog about yet that are finding their place amongst the favorites.  First off is another Sneha, this time dress length with a straight hem. I love how easy it is to sew.

I use it dressed up with heels, or down with some thick stockings and boots.

Komi Kimono Jacket PDF sewing pattern in wool               Komi Kimono Jacket PDF sewing pattern

Finally I made the Komi kimono Jacket in some nice Italian suiting wool to have something a bit warmer as extra layer now in the fall.

That kind of wraps up the part of my wardrobe that has been used the most this last year.  I'm looking forward to keep adding new pieces and learning new skills.  Only the Komi kimono jacket, the last Sneha dress and the Susanne cardigan haven't made it to my blog "by dagbjort" yet, all the other pieces you can find there if you want to have a look.
