It seems that skirts have been long gone from my wardrobe, but somehow I have been yearning for skirts over the past couple of months. There is nothing like the feeling of a skirt draping around bare summer legs, bare feet in sandals and sunglasses in the hair. Can you tell I'm ready for spring?
I always ask my support group on Facebook for input and inspiration for new patterns, and I recently asked them what skirt sewing patterns they were looking for. The list was long and included pencil-skirts, A-line skirts, long and short skirts, and any other imaginable skirt variation you can think of. But the one that caught my attention was more along the flowy boho style tiered skirt.
With this information, I quickly narrowed it down, and we have created a pretty awesome, fantastic, marvelous skirt for the spring. The three tiers are cut in the round creating a cascading effect from hip to angle. The sweep measures almost 10 yards (9 meters), and all that lovely fabric creates the most lovely silhouette.
The Belle skirt sewing pattern for woven fabric is a three-tiered skirt fitted from the waist and with increasing flair towards the hem. The bottom tier is created with circular bands creating a lovely full sweep. The skirt is designed with high-low hemline. The front waistband is contoured and the back elasticized. The fit and look of the skirt is flowy, bohemian and romantic.
