    Two so far ...

I really love this pattern - it's a pleasure to sew and it turns out that waistcoats go with so many things and cover my 62-year-old midriff very comfortably :)
So far I've made two from offcuts of fairly thick upholstery wool felt bought from a social enterprise on eBay. For the purple one I didn't have quite enough fabric so made the facings of thinner stripey cotton and, though it's a bit less warm, it sits slightly closer to the body and feels less stiff. I already have plans to make another one for the spring out of thinner wool suiting in various blues and my husband is hinting strongly that he would like one too, so it looks like I'll be getting the Pike pattern as well in the near future!

Step by step instructions make it achievable

While there is lots of pieces, keeping them together with the pattern piece makes it easier to follow along.
I found the curves the hardest part, however that comes with practice. Loved the clever (but fiddly) way the bottom seam is done.
Was able to get done for a wedding and made a very happy crew

Interesting waistcoat - just waiting to start a second one.

A really nice feminine design. This one is a trial run for my daughter. She needs some more formal workwear, As she has a more athletic build, I found it easy to adapt the pattern for her shape. The instructions are good and easy to follow. I love the design of the lining in particular. Having the inside facings edging the lining stops anything peeking out.
Take your time making this one, especially the top stitching. Such a nice touch. I will have to wait until I can make one for me, since I will need to make a second one of these for my daughter first.

    Perfectly Designed, On Trend

The details and draftsmanship of this pattern really separate it from other similar patterns I've seen. It fits beautifully, and isn't excessively complex. Love it.
