You get something more than just a great garment with a Wardrobe By Me pattern

This is the second pattern I've picked up from Wardrobe By Me and I am now a total fan. Yes, the fit is great, and the instructions are clear enough to follow, but the thing that makes me a fan of these patterns is something that probably doesn't influence a more accomplished person at sewing. Though I have been at it for five years now, I truly appreciate the accompanying video instructions. As a person who can better follow the overall construction process visually, the video makes the entire process far easier to accomplish. And yeah, once you have done a seemingly complicated assembly a few times, seeing it done in a video may not be necessary. For me, even after a few times, it helps to get past some of the more confusing aspects of following a written instruction by seeing it done in person.

It also helps to determine where and how I can deviate from the pattern in customizing an aspect of the design. Sure, the pattern, as is, is great, but a key aspect as to why a person even bothers making their own clothes is to have something that fits personal preferences. The patterns are easily modified to address that without requiring advanced pattern adjusting skills. Here, again, the access to the video helps to determine where something could go wrong in making those adjustments.

Bottom line, for the person who wants a great looking garment, these patterns are perfect. And for the person who wants to get adventurous, these patterns make it easy to start your personal journey.

    Nice Pattern!

I would have given 4 stars but for one thing - the collar. I have made this polo shirt twice and both times, even though I adhered to the seam allowance, the collar was too short. In order to get a nice tuck at the top near the plackets, I have had to increase the pattern piece for the collar very slightly. This worked well. It wasn’t a problem as I had enough fabric to cut another collar. It wouldn’t have been had I not had enough. Otherwise, the fit for my husband was very good 👍

    Similar to rtw, great pattern

This pattern is a good fit with clear instructions. I chose a woven medium weight interfacing for the collar because it’s easier to sew if it’s stabilised. I use seam tape interfacing to stabilise the shoulder seam and stay stitched the neck - this stopped the neckline stretching as I sewed it so the collar overlapped at the ends (the first one I made the neckline stretched so one end of it was the same length as the collar).

I chose to hand stitch the collar on the inside. I had to modify the pattern to fit my husband (I narrowed the shoulders, increased the height of the sleeve cap and widened the sleeve).

He likes it because it’s similar to rtw ones, I might try making the collar out of ribbing next time.

The placket instructions are very clear, this stage is fiddly but perfectly ‘doable’ if you follow the instructions carefully.

    Hubby loves it!

This is my first time sewing a polo shirt and I'm really bad with plackets finish, but I knew that Christina's patterns are'nt a waste of time and they give great fit for my husband. She has done a really good job with this pattern revision, I find the construction of the plackets really good and nice inside finish!

    Great fit! Fantastic sew.

What a pleasant sew! I loved sewing the Draper shirt, With fine detail like the placket, perfectly sized pocket and especially the split hem this makes a above average shirt, extremely well fitting and not too hard sew. What more can you ask for! Thank you Christina for adding a video, I am sure this will be helping so many to achieve success with less time sent unpicking and squinting over harder to do (or first time to do) areas.

Should you prefer a tighter fit, this pattern is so well drafter you can just size down!
