Men’s Summer Pants

Great pattern with clear instructions. I made a pair of shorts for my son and a pair of trousers for my husband. They were great Christmas gifts!

Hard to follow instructions and Sizing off

I am an intermediate sewer and had a very hard time following this pattern. The pockets truly threw me for a loop. I had to find a YouTube and ended up having to listen to someone ramble on about everything except what she was doing. The funny thing is that the way she put the pockets together and attached to the shorts was not aligned with the instructions either.

Anyway, I finally got it figured out and they turned out to be beautiful shorts.

I had my husband try them on before finishing the waist band and they fit. Great! Once I finished the waist band they now were way too small. He has worn a 36 for ever it seems, yet the 36 in these shorts were too small. Fortunately I have a son with a smaller frame who received them as a Christmas present.

We have a full youtube video, and there is no talking, so I don't think you looked at our video. Here a link that starts at the pocket https://youtu.be/vIlG4bkP__U?t=176

AS for sizing, you can NEVER compare RTW sizing with sewing pattern sizing. you must ALWAYS measure the person before choosing the right size. We know from experience that RTW is not tru to measurement, measning a pair of pants in size 36 is usually at least 38 or 39'. This is also why we include both body and finished garment measurements. We give you all the tools to choose the right size.

Frustrating

The directions for this pattern were very confusing. If it weren’t for the illustrations I wouldn’t have finished them. Spent a lot of time with the seam ripper. I made the shorts and they were nice once I got them done.

Great pattern...!

This is a great pattern for some great pants, I love them.
I made mine out of linen and the size was spot on. I am a 4o inch waist and I made up the 2XL size.
I will be making more. Next time I may hack the pattern and put in a zip fly from the shorts pattern from Wardrobe by Me.
I recommend everyone to give these a go, you won't be disappointed.

Mostly a satisfying sew

On the whole, I really enjoyed making these for my husband. I’m a relatively inexperienced sewist, and this is the most involved make I’ve done so far, so I struggled with some aspects. For instance, I unpicked a partly made front pocket before realising I’d done it correctly to start with. (Doh!). So, it was probably my inexperience rather than the instructions. Once I’d got over that hurdle I found the rest pretty straightforward and the instructions clear.
The only real gripe I have is with the pdf. It’s not clear where the joins between the different pages are, not compared to other pattern companies anyway. I also purchased the chinos pants and pasted the pages together for that yesterday and got similarly frustrated. I had to reprint several pages as I think I pasted them slightly out the first time. Please improve the pdfs, as otherwise I love the patterns.
