Love this dress it is so classic. Reminds me of Kate Middleton’s famous blue engagement dress. And I did mine in pink for breast cancer awareness month so it is super feminine.
I just finished making a sleeveless version of this dress and it turned out beautifully. This is a well drafted pattern that I enjoyed making. The video was especially helpful, and I used it through the whole process. Now that it is completed, I am even more impressed with how it fits and looks. So flattering. I made a size 6 and lengthened the skirt to create a more elegant look that I plan to wear to a wedding. I am planning to make a long sleeve version soon and look forward to trying another pattern by this company.
I wasn't completely sure my sewing skills would be enough to complete this dress, but the instructions and the video were very very clear and i found it easy instead!! I'm working on a second dress now and will buy other patterns soon!! Thank you!!!
I made this as a maternity dress to wear to a Christmas Party, and the finished garment is great - I love that the bodice fits around my bust without showing off too much cleavage or exposing the bra underneath, and that the flowy skirt sits nicely over my bump without any stretching. I cut the pattern a size larger than I normally would due to the negative ease, which worked out perfectly. I also added armhole darts and hacked the skirt to be about 25cm longer so that I could create a high-low hemline which turned out great. The reason I leave a 4 star review is that I found the instructions to have a few mistakes, and the wording was vague at times. It was sometimes difficult to figure out what the steps actually meant. If the instructions were clearer and the errors fixed, it would be a 5 star review.
Just made myself a Wanda Wrap Dress. I love it! Made the sleeveless version and had to shorten the skirt by more than 20 cm, because the fabric wasn't enough. Looks great! It's my new favourite dress! I have a difficult body to dress: large breasts and a pesky little belly that decided to start growing as I entered my fifties. Was a little afraid the clingy cotton jersey was going to show too much of the belly, but no, the pattern is really well designed in this aspect. Also, the neckline is not too revealing, a problem often found with wrap dresses. The instructions were easy to follow and the YouTube tutorial really helpful. I'm going to make one more for myself - the 3/4 sleeve version, this time - and my 22-year old tall, slender, daughter likes it so much that I'll have to make one for her as well.
The dress can easily be completed by a begginer: this is the fourth garment I made on my whole life. I made it on a regular domestic sewing machine (Singer Heavy Duty 4432), using the machine's overlock stitch for the seams and the straight stitch (elastic version) for topstitching. Worked just fine, after testing on fabric scraps and adjustinting the stitch size and tension. Using a knit foot instead of the regular foot was a great help.
Thank you for this wonderful pattern!
