Great way to use up fabric pieces

This was a really fun pattern to do, although it is tricky in that you are putting so many circles together, several of which run in opposite directions, you need to be careful with cutting out and also pinning pieces in place before sewing. I would recommend basting the top of the hat on before you sew it 'for real'. I have been sewing for almost a year and managed it ok. I made one for my wife and one for myself. Its great to have a hat that is so individual, but also fits perfectly, we live in quite a windy location but no need to worry about this getting blown off, its so snug. I actually made it reversable which was easy to do, although i did cheat a bit and used purchased bias binding rather than making my own.

Nice fit

Made one for my husband and he loves it. The fit is spot on no alterations needed.
Thanks

Best hat pattern

Really like it, I made both types, but I am not a fan of binding, prefer turning it through an opening, so I would suggest the an update of the pattern with an option for turning, I guess this mean a widening of the brim to include seam allowance for this. I would also suggest to add the option of a sweat band on the inside of the hat. Another expansion could be to add an elastic drawstring that runs inside the decorative band with an opening in the back, so that you can adjust for a hat that is to large for you.
