      Love, LOVE Men’s 5Pocket Jeans #1 pattern!

My husband was really pleased with these jeans, especially the fit! The Pattern was easy to print, and the tutorial video was such a great help in understanding the garment construction. I actually just used the zipper fly construction to modify a different pattern I was making for me, and it worked perfectly. Looking forward to sewing a pair of these jeans for myself!

Well-engineered, but it is a learning process!

It has been 30+ years since I did serious sewing, so the new format was a steep learning curve for me. We had to do a lot of measurements to decide on an appropriate size. An important lesson is to check printer settings, which default to "fit to page," but need to be changed to "actual size." The huge array of lines and marks on the pattern was mind-boggling at first. I made a "test" pair of pants with inexpensive fabric, which I recommend. The on-line video was very helpful (a bit too fast) for the fly/zipper. After getting familiar with the pattern format, the second pair of jeans went more smoothly. It is very precise. I'm glad I found this pattern. It was initially very challenging, but ultimately the best option I've found in the current sewing environment.

Jeans that fit are a Pleasure!

My husband finally asked me (conceded) to make him some jeans style pants. I found this pattern and with quick grading between sizes I was able to make him 2 (so far) pair of cotton twill pants that finally fit his very slender backside without being tight at his waist. He is thrilled and wants more now! This is was a very well drafted pattern with excellent instructions and video to follow. I added french seams to enclose pocket bags and for the next pair I will likely try true flat felled seams at the rise, yoke and inseam instead of overlocking and top-stitching for a flat felled look. What simple and fantastic front fly closure this has, much easier than I have tried in the past... and my husband loves the depth of the fly enclosure, much better than ready-to-wear purchases. Now I want to try the women's for myself!
