Wardrobe By Me

I bought this pattern for the top part of the dress and I was surprised of how accurate it is. I made an evening blouse from a plain black taffeta fabric. One of taffeta fabric's most notable attributes is its shape retention. Many other thin fabrics tend to lose their shape as they are worn, but taffeta's starched texture makes it possible to shape this fabric into a number of different forms that don't deform or become distorted over the course of an evening and with the balka pattern it was perfection. Obviously I made it longer than the pattern’s measurements.

I made this into a shirt for my spouse. The guidance on measurements was correct, and this pattern worked well for him because of the nice features like back pleats, giving room for his shoulders. Making a muslin was worth it, because the collar area is a bit fussy, so that gave me a chance to practice that part so that the collar would sit well in the finished product. I made it with a Japanese cotton with a slightly coarse weave.

This pattern is very easy to follow. The sizing is spot on. I made my tunic using handwoven material, so simplicity was necessary for my top to come out nice. The only thing I would have liked to see was the front panel for the button holes - I would like to see that piece a little wider, but that might have just been the material I was working with. Love this pattern, the fit and the great directions!! Well done.

This is a great little pattern. Well written straight forward directions made it a quick and easy sew. I especially like the channel on the back to feed the belt tie through-clever! I upcycled a lightweight striped cotton shower curtain to make it. It's a nice lightweight robe for summer.

The pattern and instructions are so carefully structured and such a delight to sew. Especially the step-by-step guide with zipper phase was useful - resulting me succeeding completely matching the front pieces. Trust the process!
I made mine in tencel satin which was perfect choice of fabric.

Easy to follow instructions and video helped a lot. Fit to size perfectly as well.

I bought this pattern to make a shirt with fabric I got in Hawaii. It's perfect! Relaxed but not too wide fit. It sizes small though. I went one size up.

The design and fit on this pattern are wonderful. My measurements are high bust 41 full bust 45, so I made a short-sleeved size 18 (with size 20 sleeves) grading up to 20 at the waisté I was amazed at how well it fit. The pieces came together well, and the top stitching gives it a professional-looking finish. Even the collar, with all the different seams (2 pieces in the raglan sleeves) came together neatly and tidily despite the fact that I used a solid cotton with little stretch. I'm impressed!
When I got a bit stuck (the slit for the sleeves), the online sewalong showed very clearly how to proceed and answered all my questions.
This is the first WBM pattern I have tried, but I shall definitely make another Tropicana... and other patterns from this designed. A big "wow" from me!
I only wish that ALL the WBM designs were available in the paper format. :)

An enjoyable fast make. I appreciated the ease of putting the PDF together with no trimming before assembly. The actual pattern was simple enough to sew yet produced a very wearable and chic wardrobe basic. I’m in Brittany, France so it’s the home of the Breton striped top so my project has to be good enough to pass muster. I used a lightweight dead stock fabric to toile for my fit but didn’t need to make ant adjustments. Sometimes it’s possible to get the authentic fabric as used in the original Breton tops here as I am in the same region as the factory of a famous brand… that’s the next one 😉. Highly recommend this pattern.
